Individual Recovery Counseling in Georgia
Private, Individualized Support for Substance Use and Behavioral Change
Not everyone feels comfortable discussing personal challenges in a group. Sometimes, a one-on-one conversation is a better place to begin.
Recovery Café offers individual recovery counseling for eligible Georgia residents seeking support with substance use concerns, unhealthy behavioral patterns, relapse prevention, and personal accountability.
Whether you’re working toward abstinence, exploring harm reduction, or simply trying to understand behaviors that have begun affecting your life, individual counseling provides an opportunity to examine your circumstances and develop practical strategies for change.
Ask About Individual Counseling
A Personalized Approach to Recovery
Recovery is not identical for everyone. Substance use and related behaviors may be influenced by stress, relationships, life experiences, environment, personal beliefs, and the ways we respond to difficult situations.
Our individual sessions emphasize conversation, education, self-awareness, and practical problem-solving. Together, we explore the patterns affecting your life and identify meaningful steps toward improvement.
The approach is collaborative. Rather than following a rigid script, sessions are guided by your needs, appropriate clinical recommendations, and mutually established goals.
What Can Individual Recovery Counseling Address?
Individual sessions may explore a variety of substance use and recovery-related concerns, including:
- Substance Use Patterns: Understanding how and why problematic behaviors develop and continue.
- Cravings and Triggers: Recognizing circumstances that increase the likelihood of unhealthy choices.
- Relapse Prevention: Developing strategies for managing high-risk situations and responding to setbacks.
- Stress and Emotional Responses: Exploring how emotional challenges may influence substance use and behavior.
- Relationships and Boundaries: Examining the effects of behavior on family, friendships, work, and personal responsibilities.
- Motivation and Accountability: Identifying meaningful reasons for change and taking ownership of personal decisions.
- Life Transitions: Navigating changes in identity, routines, relationships, and responsibilities that may affect recovery.
- Recovery Planning: Developing realistic goals, healthier routines, and appropriate support systems.
When concerns require specialized mental health treatment or a higher level of care, additional evaluation or referral to an appropriate provider may be recommended.
Abstinence, Harm Reduction, and Personal Goals
Some people enter counseling committed to complete abstinence. Others are working to understand their relationship with substances, reduce harmful behaviors, or determine what changes are necessary.
Recovery Café recognizes that people may begin this process with different goals and levels of readiness. Our approach emphasizes realistic change, informed decision-making, accountability, and reducing risks.
The appropriate goals and services depend on individual circumstances, clinical needs, and any applicable treatment recommendations.
Confidentiality and Private-Pay Counseling
Recovery Café operates on a private-pay basis and does not bill insurance for these services.
Individual counseling is conducted with respect for personal privacy and confidentiality. Appropriate records are maintained, and disclosure is governed by applicable confidentiality requirements, legal exceptions, and client authorizations.
Seeking voluntary counseling does not automatically mean your information will be shared with an employer, court, or other outside party. Any required or authorized reporting and the limits of confidentiality will be explained during enrollment.
Individual Counseling and ASAM Level 1 Requirements
Recovery Café also provides structured ASAM Level 1 outpatient services for individuals whose clinical evaluations recommend this level of care.
If your evaluation specifies individual counseling, we can review the recommendation to determine whether appropriate services and appointments are available.
For evaluations specifying a number of sessions rather than weeks, accelerated ASAM Level 1 participation may be possible through one group session and one individual session during the same week.
Evaluations requiring a specific number of weeks cannot be shortened through additional appointments. All arrangements must comply with the evaluation recommendations and Recovery Café’s program requirements.
Court-related referrals are reviewed before enrollment. Acceptance of services by an outside court, probation office, or other authority is not guaranteed.
How Individual Sessions Work
Individual counseling appointments are arranged in advance and offered subject to availability and program suitability.
Session frequency and duration of participation are determined according to your circumstances, goals, and applicable clinical recommendations. Voluntary counseling does not automatically require a predetermined 6- or 12-week program.
Current appointment availability, session fees, and enrollment procedures are provided during the inquiry process.
