This is my shout out to Steve Patterson, recently Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, SBRIT [Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based practice used to identify, reduce, and prevent problematic use, abuse, and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs] Provider and Smart Recovery Facilitator (www.smartrecovery.org). Why am I shouting this out? Well, Steve has been working his (oh, you know) off for the past year studying, practicing, networking and taking test to attain these milestones in his passionate quest to assist others in our small spot on the planet to reduce their risk related to the use of alcohol and drugs.
This has been NO small task. As a result, Recovery Cafe (and others to be announced here later) clients will benefit from the knowledge, skills and techniques Steve has acquired to help individuals make healthier choices related to their alcohol and drug use. We are proud to have such a hard working, compassionate man around to partner up with our clients in ways that are likely to be helpful in their determining what they are going to do to live healthier and more content lives.
Peace, Goodness and Wellness
I have had the privilege to witness the lives of many individuals during the past forty years of practice. My path has had many forks which have challenged me in some of the ways I have experienced in those with whom I have worked. Exploring these forks has helped me understand more accurately the people with whom I work.
